Murat Tabanlıoğlu, who is a member of RIBA–Chartered and AIA-Int'l. Assoc., graduated from the Department of Architecture of Vienna Technical University in 1992 after completing his secondary and high school education at Istanbul Boys High School. He founded Tabanlıoğlu Architecture with Dr. Hayati Tabanlıoğlu in 1990; they took part in many projects together until Hayati Tabanlıoğlu's death in 1994. Today, his award-winning architectural practice implements projects on four continents. Murat Tabanlıoğlu, who teaches architectural studio courses at various universities, primarily at Bilgi University, gives conferences on various platforms in Turkey and abroad. Tabanlıoğlu, who was a Master Jury Member of the 2013 Aga Khan Awards, serves as a jury member in international competitions such as AIA and WAF. Beyazıt Library, which was a finalist in the Mies Van Der Rohe Awards in 2017 and the 2019 Aga Khan Architecture Awards,; In addition to winning RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) International Awards for his Loft Garden and Bodrum International Airport projects in 2011 and 2013, respectively, and receiving recognition in numerous award programs and competitions such as WAF and Cityscape, Tabanlıoğlu has also undertaken the design of various exhibitions and installations. He curated the Turkish Pavilion, which made its debut at the 14th International Architecture Exhibition at the 2014 Venice Biennale, and the exhibitions “Port City Talks. Istanbul. Antwerp,” one of the main events of the Europalia 2015 Art Festival and held at the MAS Antwerp Museum. He was also invited to create installations by the London Design Festival in 2015, 2016, and 2018, and his designs have been exhibited at Somerset House and the Victoria & Albert Museums in London. Tabanlıoğlu also opened the exhibitions "Travelogue" and "Re-composing AKM" at ArchitekturGalerie Munich in 2017 and at ArchitekturGalerie Berlin in 2018. The installation "housEmotion," of which he co-designed, was exhibited at FuoriSalone Milan, the London Design Festival, and Dubai Design Week in 2018.
He continues his work with his studio, +MURAT TABANLIOGLU, where he carries his legacy into the future.
